LWV Education Fund Activities – Guidelines and Forms

The League of Women Voters of Missouri Education Fund (LWVMOEF) was established in 1984 as an educational arm of the League of Women Voters of Missouri.  It qualifies under section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code as an organization that may accept contributions that are considered to be tax deductible for the donor.  Under its Local Grant Program, Leagues solicit local contributions to the LWVMOEF and obtain grants from the LWVMOEF for approved educational projects in their communities.

The following guidelines and forms outline steps to follow in soliciting contributions and in applying for and administering LWVMOEF grants.  They include specifics on procedures required by the Internal Revenue Service to protect donors and the LWVMOEF.

Upcoming Events of interest to Local Leagues

February 23, 2021

As part of our campaign to urge Congress to pass the For the People Act we are participating in a call-in day to members of Congress. Thank Missouri Congressional leaders Cong. Emanuel Cleaver and Cong. Cori Bush for co-sponsoring HR1, and urge other members of Missouri’s Congressional Delegation to support this transformative democracy reform package. We expect a vote in the House the week of March 1.

Congressional sponsors of the legislation are asking us to keep up the pressure and drive constituent calls in support of the For the People Act. This transformative measure would:

  • Restore voting rights, expand access and offer new protections for voters
  • End gerrymandering so that electoral districts are fairly drawn
  • Get big money out of politics and implement new ethics reforms

  • CALL your representative at 1-202-417-2608
  • or TEXT HR1 to 21333 to be connected

Email your Member of Congress now and tell them you support For the People Act.
